The Assemblies of God (AG) in the Southwest trace their origins to Pentecostal revivals that emerged in Texas and the border regions of New Mexico, Arizona, and California. With the official formation of the Latin American Districts in the 1930s, the movement experienced rapid growth, placing a strong emphasis on reaching younger generations and Hispanic communities throughout the Southwest. 

Through the vision of Dr. Sergio Navarrete and Dr. Jesse Miranda, along with a committee including Rev. Tony Martinez, Rev. Emilio De La Cru,z, Rev. John Neciuk, and Rev. Alfredo Resendez, Southwest District (SWD) was birthed in 2008 as the second of three districts launched from Southern Pacific District. With over 60 churches and 90 pastors and ministers, we are committed to help resource and develop healthy pastors, churches, and church leaders. Over 30% of Arizona's population (2.1 million) is Hispanic, which is the sixth largest Hispanic population in the nation. We have a great harvest field and a need to superintendent. -raise up leaders for the generations to come and to plant healthy churches that can reach the Hispanic communiti,es. SWD was launched as a conference in 2006. Rev. Tony Martinez served as the first superintendent and Rev. Emilio De La 'cruz was assistant superintendent with Rev. John Garcia serving as secretary /treasurer. In 2008 SWD became a district and held its first District Council. Rev. Tony Martinez was elected as the first district superintendent, Emilio De La Cruz as the assistant superintendent, and Lorenzo Martinez as secretary/treasurer. Rev. Tony Martinez served as superintendent until 2014 when he retired. Rev. Emilio De La Cruz was th en elected as superintendent and Rev. Burke Montoya was elected as assistant superintendent. 

The Southwest district spans the entire state of Arizona through three regions—Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma—serving a network of over 60 churches. It includes 4,694 members, reaches 5,893 adherents, and is supported by more than 90 ministers across the state.

Las Asambleas de Dios (AG) en el Suroeste trazan sus orígenes a los avivamientos pentecostales que surgieron en Texas y en las regiones fronterizas de Nuevo México, Arizona y California. Con la formación oficial de los Distritos Latinoamericanos en la década de 1930, el movimiento experimentó un rápido crecimiento, con un fuerte énfasis en alcanzar a las nuevas generaciones y a las comunidades hispanas en todo el Suroeste.

A través de la visión del Dr. Sergio Navarrete y el Dr. Jesse Miranda, junto con un comité que incluyó al Rev. Tony Martinez, Rev. Emilio De La Cruz, Rev. John Neciuk y Rev. Alfredo Resendez, el Distrito del Suroeste (SWD) nació en 2008 como el segundo de tres distritos lanzados desde el Southern Pacific District.
